The Artist....
A little bit about me. My name is Bob Jones and I am an illustrator and watercolor artist. Watercolor paintings present unique challenges because
the results are unpredictable and, therefore, a little exciting. I try to capture details which are often elusive without persistence. Things happen
quickly...the paper is wet, the color goes on and runs where it wants. The artist is not in complete control. Areas dry with streaks and edges that
cannot be planned but that add a character that is their own. My joy in watercolor is that even I do not know what the final results will be.
The Passion....
As a fine artist I attempt to show what a photograph cannot. I want my paintings to inspire thoughtful contemplation and invoke a mood; to relax and
stimulate at the same time. The art should take you away from the current moment and send the viewer on a journey of discovery. On a recent trip to
the Alamo I photographed the cracks and fissures of individual bricks and did quick color sketches to preserve their values back in my studio.
I wanted the finished piece to capture the feeling of actually being at this historic site. Did Crockett stand there? Did Travis lean against this
wall? What would I have done if I had been there? The same thought process goes into my invitation packages be they for elegant weddings or small,
happy events.
The Singular Invitation....
My career as an illustrator and fine artist swayed into the world of weddings when my daughter told me she was having a difficult time finding
just the invitation she wanted, no matter how much she was willing to pay. I listened to what I thought were simple desires and said, "I can do that,
and I can’t believe it will be that costly." I was right. On both counts.
